Donald Mann (1853-1934) of the Canadian Northern Railway watches over the bridge named in his honour, with two early diesels photographed together on the shop tracks (located about two miles from the actual bridge). Marked on the CN 1421, a GMD1 built in 1960 as CN 1074, are the words Patrimoine Ferroviaire (Railway Heritage), probably added when the unit was rebuilt as a GMD1u in 1989. CN 103 (formerly CB&Q 9986A, BN 9986, BN/METRA 9916) was built in 1955 as an E9A and rebuilt in the 1970's as an E9AM. The units were photographed in June 2001. |
