Great Northern Railway (1909)

Great Northern Railway (1909)

A portion of a 1909 map by the General Passenger Department of the Great Northern Railway, covering Everett to Vancouver and east to Princeton. The map shows the GN's newly-built line along Semiahmoo Bay and Mud Bay and then inland to the west side of Brownsville but incorrectly shows the points of Port Kells, Bon Accord and Liverpool along the way. Most of the dashed line shown from Abbotsford to Princeton would be built by the Canadian Northern Pacific and a subsidiary of the Canadian Pacific, the Kettle Valley Railway. On Vancouver Island, north of Victoria, can be seen the Great Northern's Victoria & Sidney Railway, which was not denoted as part of their system -- like the New Westminster Southern Railway (not shown), never absorbed into the Vancouver, Victoria & Eastern Railway.
